FAQ'S - COSMETIC INJECTABLE TREATMENTS
WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Anti-wrinkle injections utilise purified proteins to reduce shallow and deep wrinkles or ‘dynamic lines’. Our practitioners are experts in facial anatomy and work with each patient to achieve his or her desired outcomes – drooping, sagging and fine lines, for example.
There are a few different product brands on the market which due to industry regulations we cannot state their names however, at MBODY we stock two types.
Depending on a few different individual variables our practitioners will assist you in deciding on the best product for you.
HOW DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS WORK?
Anti-wrinkle injections work by decreasing the activity of the muscles that contract to deepen facial wrinkles. Our practitioners inject customised quantities in specific points of the face. The skin will then become smoother in the following days and weeks and even more so with repeated injections. It is usually a good recommendation to undertake 3 to 4 treatments over a 12 month period.
We strongly encourage a good skin care regimen and sun protection to maintain healthy looking skin.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS FOR ANTI-WRINKLE:
Any side effects are temporary, very few and minor. There is usually some redness and swelling at the treated sites (similar in appearance to mosquito bites) which disappear in minutes. Small bruises may appear in areas of high vascularity. Your practitioner will discuss all possible side effects with you before injecting and also provide you with a take home after care leaflet, along with receiving an aftercare document via email on completion of you appointment.
ARE ANTI WRINKLE INJECTIONS SAFE?
Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the safest treatments performed in our clinic. To avoid unwanted results like drooping, sagging and the frozen look, it is very important to find a practitioner who is skilled and well experienced, as well as having exemplary understanding of the facial anatomy, not only of the skin, but of all the underlying structures including muscles, glands and skeletal structures.
You are in safe hands with all staff at MBODY Aesthetics. We will discuss any risks associated with treatments you are considering and ensure you have all the information you need.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS FOR DERMAL FILLER:
After injection of the dermal filler, we may will apply ice to the treated area – the area may remain slightly swollen or red throughout the day. The treated area may increase in swelling for 24hrs, but rest assured over next 48-72hrs, the swelling will reduce. Common side effects can include redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection site for a few days, may occur for up to a week after treatment. At MBODY Aesthetics, we encourage all clients to return for their complimentary follow up appointment after 2 weeks.
The dermal filler procedure, creates instant, noticeable effects that generally can last 6-12 months* (i.e. dependent on product & site injected). As a guide, more active areas such as lips will break down the product at a quicker rate, whereas less active areas, such as the cheeks, last longer.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE TREATMENT?
Prior to your treatment, you will need a thorough medical consultation with our practitioner. We will take pre-treatment photos, determine the areas and extent of treatment & discuss your objectives with you, to ensure you are suitable and that we can achieve your goals. Some goals will require multiple appointment to achieve the desired results.
We usually use topical anaesthetic cream or injections (i.e. local anaesthetic incorporated into the dermal filler product), allowing for a more comfortable procedure during the treatment.
The treatment usually takes 30-40minutes (depending on area treated). Some patient may experience mild stinging or burning as the product is injected, but any discomfort should be minimal/mild due to the anaesthetic. Injection sites will be massaged to promote even integration of the product into the tissue.
Again any specific post care information will be provided to you in clinic.
